Question if we will have the same per size licensing available for the Azure DevOps Server 2019.

chcomley commented May 16, 2019

For Server 2019, Azure Artifacts is included with the Basic access

On-premises Azure Artifacts now included with Basic license
Users with a Basic license will now be able to use Azure Artifacts on-premises without needing to purchase an Azure Artifacts extension. This means with Azure DevOps Server 2019 (formerly Team Foundation Server), users with a Basic License can create and consume Azure Artifacts on-premises if they have a Basic license assigned. Please note that for previous versions of our server product, an Azure Artifacts extension is still needed to access this functionality.

Hopefully this answers your question.
Azure devops delete repository

<youtube>
Azure devops delete repository New newspaper Azure devops delete repository
Delete default project Wiki in Azure DevOps

October 23, 2020 2 minute read

Background

Azure DevOps supports 2 types of project Wikis:

project wiki: users are able to add / edit pages directly within the specified Wiki

code wiki: markdown files are defined in a Git repo and published to the Wiki

Upon creating a new wiki, you?re greeted with the following screen:

Whenever someone has already created a project Wiki, there seems to be no way to delete it going through the web UI ?? . This can get very annoying, especially when your team project contains a code wiki which lives next to the (default) project wiki. Clicking the Overview > Wiki menu will have users ending up in the default project wiki (which will be selected by default) instead of your code wiki, which can get confusing.

Even though it seems like only the code wikis (obviously) have a git repo backing it, all content of provisioned wikis is stored in a dedicated repo as well. Deleting this repo will delete the project wiki in question.

Solution

We can do this by making use of the Azure DevOps REST API. Call the REST API using PowerShell or specialized tools like for example Postman. Have a look at one of my earlier posts which explains how to do so: Call Azure DevOps REST API with Postman

1) Let?s first get a list of all Wikis in our team project:

Response:

You can see both of our wikis are listed, each having a different type property. The first one being the project wiki ( "type": "projectWiki" ), and the second one being or code wiki ( "type": "codeWiki" ). Note the repositoryId of the project wiki ( 1318cf4b-2653-4567-af6b-f8028d7d9e33 in this example), which we?ll be using in the next step.

2) Delete the project wiki in question by specifing the repositoryId ( 1318cf4b-2653-4567-af6b-f8028d7d9e33 in this example). This will delete the underlying repository and get rid of the wiki:

Response:

3) Double check by re-running our first REST call:

Response:

The above steps should have deleted your project wiki, leaving you with just the code wiki intact ??

Updated: October 23, 2020

Comments

You May Also Enjoy

ARM what-if operation

November 01, 2020

Validate ARM templates using the what-if operation

Setup Docker and Docker Compose on a Raspberry Pi

September 01, 2020

Setting up Docker and Docker Compose on a Raspberry Pi

Flashing your Dell PERC H310 to IT firmware (UEFI)

Flashing your Dell PERC H310 storage card to IT firmware.

Call Azure DevOps REST API with Postman

Call the Azure DevOps REST API using Postman

Azure devops delete repository

Recent Posts

Archives

James Still

Software, Design, Architecture and Whatever Else

From Soup to Nuts: Azure DevOps with Visual Studio 2017

This is the introductory post in a four part series walking through the process of creating a project in Visual Studio and building out a complete CI/CD pipeline to get that code into production on Azure using Azure DevOps.

Here?s a rough outline of where I think this series will go. As soon as I have the content ready I?ll link to them from here:

A little context? Lately I?ve been using the Eclipse plugin Subversive for source control on my java-based projects, which uses an on-prem SVN server. For C# projects I use the Visual Studio plugin VisualSVN. Back in the old days I used an on-prem TFS server. Before that VSS which I?ll just leave that right there. So I?ve used SVN for many years and I have no complaints about it in particular or concurrent version control systems in general. But this series isn?t about those tools or centralized version control. And it?s not about Git Bash or shelling out to the command line from GitHub Desktop or anything like that. Download the Pro Git book if you want to dive deep into that area.

I?ve also used TFS v1.0 and before that NAnt and then CruiseControl somewhere along the line. Currently my place of work uses TeamCity for builds, NUnit for tests, Octopus for deployments and probably other things like DbUp for database scripting. And I?ve deployed straight to Azure from Visual Studio more times than I can count. But guess what? This series isn?t about any of those things either. In this series I want to help you to take your game up to the next level so that your pipeline to production is fully automated. And I want to keep it as simple as possible. So let?s get started at Part 1.

Visual studio 2017 connect to azure devops

Tfs to azure devops

<youtube>
Tfs to azure devops Latest national news Tfs to azure devops
Migrate to Azure DevOps Services from Azure DevOps Server or TFS

Azure DevOps is the cloud-based sibling of Azure DevOps Server. Simply put, it?s everything you know and love about the on-premises solution with none of the maintenance. With Azure DevOps, you?ll have access to the latest features every three weeks. The features are scalable, reliable, and available wherever you need them. Furthermore, when you choose to make the switch from on-premises to the cloud, you can take your data with you ? your work item numbers, Git commit IDs, and much more will remain exactly the same.

Azure DevOps Migration Process

With PRAKTIK in charge, the migration process takes place across a 2 to 6 week period. We will clone the on-premises instance, which allows us to work on the upgrade without any impact for your teams.
